Thank you for choosing Building Ability for your wood products.  We are committed to providing quality products at competitive prices and to providing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and disadvantages.  Building Ability shares a commitment to preserving the environment with Building Value, our deconstruction partner.  Building Ability and Building Value are social enterprises wholly owned and operated by Easterseals in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Building Ability makes every effort to use reclaimed lumber, carefully salvaged from deconstruction projects.  By using this type of material we are helping to reduce the amount of demolition material going to our nation’s overflowing landfills.  Many of our products will show evidence of prior use including:  fastener holes, oxidation, seasoning cracks and occasionally, insect bore holes.  These tell-tale signs from the lumber’s previous life, when properly preserved and finished, add character to the wood and make our products unique.  We try to provide our customers with an accurate representation in our product pictures, but due to the inherent nature of reclaimed wood, our pictures may not capture all of the variations present in a particular lot of lumber.  Similar, and sometimes the same, products will show variations in the wood used in their construction.

Payment Terms

Building Ability accepts VISA, Mastercard, AMEX and Discover.  Cash payment is accepted only at our home office:  Easterseals; 2901 Gilbert Avenue; Cincinnati, Ohio 45206.  Building Ability follows state regulations and charges sales tax where required.  

Product Returns

We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase from Building Ability.  In the event that you are not satisfied with one of our products and wish to return it, please adhere to our guidelines and follow these steps for returning your purchase:

  • Before deciding to send a purchase back, contact us and explain the problem.  We’ll do our best to resolve the problem.  The e-mail address for the Building Ability Manager
  • Products cannot be returned more than 10 days after shipment.
  • Returned items must be in new condition and show no signs of use or wear.
  • Custom orders (products made to your specification) cannot be returned.
  • Building Ability reserves the right to charge a 20% restocking fee on certain products.
  • Shipping charges are not refunded and customers are responsible for return shipping charges.
  • Customer credit for returned items will only be issued to the original customer and the original form of payment.


Shipping rates may vary based on destination, weight and the size of the package.  Most orders are shipped through FedEx and actual charges will be quoted prior to the final invoice after the weight and actual packing dimensions are taken from the completed order.  Our staff will strive to provide our customers with the most efficient and economical method for shipping their purchase.
